Bavarian automaker BMW has been pretty busy lately, as its turnout at motor shows as of late shows. For example, at Frankfurt in September, BMW brought along six different new cars. While it won't be bringing that many to the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show this month, we'll still be getting a look at some vehicles that have only been shown overseas.
Among these are the i3 and i8, of BMW's all-electric 'i' sub brand. This will be the first time that we've seen the cars on our home soil, and a great chance for drivers in our San Antonio, TX locale to learn how the automaker plans to market these cars for our market.
The i3, which is designed for city drivers, offers an interior fashioned out of green-minded fabrics, and offers an all-electric driving range of 80 to 99 miles. Its electric motor boasts an impressive 170 horsepower, and we're sure it'll be quite a big hit when it arrives at BMW of San Antonio.
So will the i8, which BMW predicts will have its biggest market in North America. Designed as a hybrid sports car, the i8 combines an electric engine with a gasoline one, offering a combined 131 horsepower (electric) and 231 (gasoline).
Also present at the LA Auto Show will be the new 4-Series Convertible, a hard top that the automaker has built to replace the 3 Series open-top variant.
We'll naturally keep you updated on the reception of these cars right here on our blog.
