BMW has teased the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid since all the way back in 2012. Fans around the world have been greatly interested in seeing it come to life, and have waited patiently.

And now, it's happening.

BMW CEO Harald Krueger announced last week that the BMW i8 plug-in is coming -- but in 2018. But hey, at least it's on the way, right?

Our BMW dealership in San Antonio, Texas is so excited to hear this news, and we know you are, too. The BMW i8 Convertible is the future of vehicles. It's incredibly advanced, which you can tell from the rendering photo above. It's going to blow people away.

Under the hood, it should feature a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine, electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. And just because it's going to be economical, doesn't mean it won't pack a punch. British car magazine Autocar reported last year and said BMW is looking to raise the power from 357 horsepower to 420 horsepower

It's certainly been a busy year for BMW. Just recently, they revealed what the 2020 BMW 8-Series will look like, and fans blew up with excitement. You can click here to read about it.
