BMW has been on the move for the past few years. They're about to change the game in the auto industry, and they're spending a boatload to do so.
For years now, Tesla has been a an interesting brand, because of their fuel-efficient sports cars. But BMW is ready to check mate the popular automaker. Our BMW dealership in San Antonio, Texas has closely followed BMW over the past few months, because they've announced quite a few revolutionary innovations.
BMW has announced their iVentures division of their business, which will focus on several new innovations.
"These days, more and more innovations come from the startup scene," said Peter Schwarzenbauer, a member of the board of management at BMW Group in a statement. "Venturing allows us to tap into this potential at an early stage. To achieve this, we are now giving BMW i Ventures a much broader footing."
In the statement, he added: "The atmosphere of radical openness and idea-driven exchange that characterizes the startup scene is particularly fruitful for an innovation leader like BMW."
For starters, they're currently finishing up their first lineup of autonomous cars, which will especially be used for taxi services. This will make traveling easier and more fun for the passenger.
Secondly, BMW is gearing up to do away with gasoline-powered models. Not too long ago, they released the BMW i8, which is a very impressive and fuel-efficient ride.
