If you've considered a sporting luxury utility for your next vehicle, chances are you and the 2017 BMW X5 have crossed paths. The largest Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) that the brand produces, it combines the driving dynamics of a rear-wheel drive sport sedan with exemplary utility and luxury. But there are a lot of features available on this seven-seater, and if you're overwhelmed, BMW of San Antonio would be happy to point out the highlights.

Exterior
Even unadorned, you won't miss the X5 in any parking lot. Its angel-eyed headlamps, and muscular presence stand out on their own merits. The aero blades in the grille bolster efficiency, while integrated roof rails expand cargo flexibility. A two-section tailgate in the back allows for both easy access, and a seat for tailgating. Opt for the M Sport Design, and your X5 will shine with shadow line exterior trim, M Double Spoke wheels, and an aerodynamic kit.

Interior
With an optional third row installed, the X5 can seat up to seven passengers, and accommodate 35.8 cu-ft of cargo. With the rear seats down, that expands to a massive 76.7 cu-ft. But where there's plenty to enjoy in the spacious, lavish cabin, it can be further tailored with options. You can either choose from one of three tiers, or opt into one of several packages that brings leather upholstery, automatically-closing doors, ventilated and heated seats, and more.

Powertrain and Performance
The powertrains on the X5 are divided by model. 35i models are offered in either RWD or AWD and come with a 300-hp turbocharged inline-six. The xDrive40e plug-in hybrid gets 308-hp, while the twin-turbo V8 on the xDrive50i provides 445-hp. Every X5 has confident and controlled driving manners, with excellent steering feel and suspension comfort. M Sport components can enhance the sporting ride.

Safety and Driver Assistance
BMW makes a confident, safe drive its priority, and the X5 offers an arsenal of features with that mission in mind. With the Driver Assistance package equipped, the X5 can be had with a full-color Head-up display, speed limit information, lane departure warning, active blind spot detection, and an active driving assistant. LED headlights can be had as an option, along with automatic high beams, and a useful adaptive cruise control. Other highlights include a surround view camera, parking assistance, night vision with pedestrian detection, and wireless charging with a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.
