With the battle for automotive autonomy heating up between passionate automakers across the world, we just recently dove into BMW’s autonomous motorcycle, the BMW R1200GS, in our previous blog. But what exactly is on the horizon for BMW’s Ultimate Driving Machines? The head-turning BMW Vision iNext gives us just a little bit of insight as to what the future of Bimmers may hold--and to say that future is pretty spectacular would be a massive understatement.

Although many details have yet to be officially announced, BMW has been teasing tantalizing sketches, photos, and videos of the BMW Vision iNext for quite some time now and has left BMW-fans waiting with bated breath. A fully electric, autonomous vehicle with a one-of-a-kind design, the BMW Vision iNext outlines the possibilities of what’s to come down the BMW pipeline. Before the full worldwide press release, BMW has partnered up with Lufthansa Cargo to plan a massive global introduction in four incredible locations across three different continents in just five short days: Munich, Germany, New York City, New York, San Francisco, California, and Beijing, China.

Klaus Fröhlich, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG and responsible for the development of the stunning new vehicle, had this to say of the worldwide launch: “iNEXT is our mobility proposition for the future, so it’s only logical that the BMW Vision iNEXT should be presented to a global audience in a fresh new style… The World Flight [launch] is a fitting way to get the ball rolling.” Equally as unique as the car they are revealing to the world, BMW’s presentation of the BMW Vision iNext actually occurs on the Lufthansa Cargo's Boeing 777F, making it the first ever automotive press conference to ever take place on a cargo plane. Once the final presentation is completed, Lufthansa Cargo's Boeing 777F wastes no time as it flies to the next stop on its whirlwind worldwide tour. Once the BMW Vision iNext completes its world tour, we anticipate the worldwide reveal to take place very soon.
