The 2019 BMW X5’s November release date is fast approaching, and everyone is excitedly awaiting the newest version of one of BMW’s most popular models. We’re here to break down the latest and greatest updates coming to this modern SAV and cover what events are coming up before the X5’s official launch.
What’s Coming to the New BMW X5?
Seeing its last major update five years ago, the all-new BMW X5 has a slew of thrilling upgrades that are sure to impress even the most loyal of Bimmer-fans. Step inside and the interior dazzles with new and luxurious finishing touches. A 12.3” touchscreen rests at the front of the 2019 BMW X5 with new and improved graphics quality for even better visibility. The available panoramic moonroof also ensures that everyone in the car can look up to the sky as they ride, and optional glass accents for the gear lever, volume control, stop/start button, and the iDrive controller give the X5 that extra edge of elegance that makes it a classic BMW model.
The exterior of the X5, for the most part, stays unchanged with the exception of minor physical and technological additions because it’s already such an Ultimate Driving Machine. The new BMW X5 is overall 1.1” longer, 1” taller, 2.6” wider, and rides on a wheelbase that is 1.6” longer. The grille is also angled slightly more forward and deeper for a bolder front-facing look, with active shutters to help with the SAV’s aerodynamics. The two-part tailgate carries over to the all-new X5, but now both pieces are power-automated with an optional upgrade to hands-free functionality, too.
When it comes to safety, the 2019 BMW X5 is outfitted with some of the most up-to-date automotive safety technology features available on the market. Blind-spot warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and speed-limit recognition are just some of the features you will find in the newest version of the BMW X5. There’s also an available Driving Assistant Professional package that includes both the ability to automatically change lanes and upgraded adaptive cruise control for hands-free steering like you’ve never experienced before.
The New X5 is Super Exciting, So What’s Next for This Ride?
BMW has recently announced they will be hosting the global press release of their all-new 2019 BMW X5 in Atlanta, Georgia in September--only two short months before the hotly-anticipated market release. For a few weeks, worldwide media will be welcomed to the capital city of the Peach State to get their first-ever look at the latest X5. A burgeoning city with one of the busiest international airports in the world, Atlanta was both a smart and strategic choice for the press launch of the newest BMW SAV seeing as it’s the home of both rivals Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. The launch is also occurring just a few hours drive from the Spartanburg, South Carolina factory where the 2019 BMW X5 will be produced. Whether the location was chosen specifically for logistics or for slightly more competitive reasons, one thing is for sure: we can’t wait for the release of the all-new BMW X5.
