It’s no secret that BMW’s revival of the 8-Series is being highly anticipated. We know we can expect a 2-door variant, but the future lineup could potentially include a 4-door Gran Coupe model as well!
Earlier this month, BMW Blog reported that a BMW 8-Series Gran Coup was predicted to debut in late 2019, following the original Coupe. That would round out the 8-Series family, which will already include a convertible and M8 variant as well.
The 8-Series’ production was highlighted earlier this year when prototypes were caught being tested, but now that the year is in its final quarter, our patience is growing thin for confirmation of a Gran Coupe model. Similar to the concept we’ve seen for months, the 8-Series looks long and wide. Its family of variants would tip the scales with relatively light curb weights for large luxury vehicles. We expect powertrains to include V-8 and V-12 options, but a plug-in hybrid could also be in the works.
Production of the 8-Series is expected to begin next year, meaning we likely wouldn’t see it until 2019, premiering as a 2020 model. As always, BMW of San Antonio will keep you posted on new updates and other news coming from BMW, such as this exciting news about a potential 8-Series Gran Coupe model!
