If you’re anything like us, the anticipation is building for BMW’s brand new M5. The 5 Series sedan, wagon, and M550i have all been revealed, but the M5 will be the icing on an already good cake.

The high-performance sedan is expected to arrive later this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but we’ve compiled everything we know about the M sedan thus far.

Sources have claimed that a reworked version of the M5’s twin-turbo V8 engine, producing approximately 600 horsepower will be under the hood. This amount of power will be balanced to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic. Prior to this model, every M5 has been rear-wheel drive, so why is it changing? Mainly to accommodate those living in regions with snowy terrains in winter. The new M5 will continue to feature M Dynamic Mode which enables drivers to send all 600 horses to the rear wheels.

Drivers can expect a 0-60 miles per hour time in less than four seconds, compared to the current 4.4-second take off. While performance is highly dependent on vehicle weight, the 2018 M5 won’t vary much.

We can also expect the typical M styling we’ve come to know both inside and out, meaning beefier wheels, unique front and rear end styling, and lots of M badges. We anticipate more details to pop up throughout the summer, just ahead of its September debut.
