Texas Vacations blog.jpg

Being a Texan, you don’t have to look very far for new and creative options when it comes to vacationing. Between its diversity of landscapes and world-class tourism, there is an exciting and travel-worthy reason to load up the car and plan a vacation right here in the Lone Star State!

  1. Son’s Island on Lake Placid | Seguin, Texas. This tropical getaway will make it seem like you took a 1,000+ mile trip to the Bahamas without ever crossing the border. In this hidden paradise you can rent an open-air lakeside cabana for up to 15 guests, rent a vintage RV, enjoy boating, paddleboarding and other water activities, and end the night dancing to live music under the stars. This is our idea of beachin’ on a budget!

  2. Santa Elena Canyon | Big Bend National Park. The stunning views in the canyon make this hike one of the best attractions of Big Bend. The trail is in close proximity to the river where there is lush vegetation and woodland animals, making it a fun excursion for all ages. The trail follows the Rio Grande upstream and hugs a ridge in the canyon wall, overlooking a beautiful spot of the river. This outing is best explored via raft or canoe and there are many opportunities for wildlife viewing and hiking.

  3. Padre Island National Seashore | Corpus Christi, Texas. Stretching over 70 miles of coastline, this seashore is home to over 380 bird species, rare sea turtles, and 130,000 acres of beach dunes and grassland habitats. It also has a rich history including the Spanish shipwrecks of 1554. There is a wide variety of activities to take part in, including camping, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and bird-watching. You won’t regret a trip to the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island the world has to offer!

  4. The Blue Hole in Angelina National Forest | Jasper County, Texas. Out of all the secluded gems in Texas, this one may be the the biggest treasure. This tropical paradise has sparkling aqua waters and has been rumored to heal skin irritations, acne, and minor cuts. It’s worth the drive to test out the rejuvenating waters for yourself!

  5. The Natural Bridge Caverns | San Antonio. More than 10,000 stalactite formations can be found in this incredibly vast underground cavern network. What is now the Natural Bridge Caverns were found in 1960 by four St. Mary’s University students who were given permission to explore the underground passages under a 60-foot limestone bridge. Today this astonishing discovery has been preserved and can be explored by guided lantern tours. There is also a maze, gem and fossil mining, and hidden passages to take part in.

With all of these quick excursions at your fingertips, we hope you’ll have an incredible summer hitting the open road and exploring the outdoors with activities right here in our backyard! What’s your favorite place to visit in our great state? We’d love to add more to our list!
