BMW Aims to Keep Your Grad Safe in IIHS 2017 Top Safety Pick

School may be out for summer, but if you have (or are) a recent high school graduate, four more years of higher education may be on the horizon! BMW wants the best for our consumers, and that includes drivers who may be making a long trek to college in the coming months.

We are excited and honored that FOUR of BMW’s 2017 lineup made the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) list of Top Safety Picks for 2017. The IIHS conducts vehicle tests to determine crashworthiness, which is how well a vehicle protects its occupants in a crash. It also rates vehicles for front crash prevention, which are systems that alert the driver or brake automatically to avoid or mitigate a frontal collision. Each vehicle that performs best in their test per category qualifies for Top Safety Pick, which has been awarded since the 2006 model year. To access the full list, click here.

BMW 5 series -- This model scored 5/5 “G” in each of the crashworthiness tests. “G” represents good and is the highest rating a vehicle can receive. In addition, it received a “Superior” rating in crash avoidance and mitigation testing, and another “G” in headlight testing.
