2018 hasn’t even begun and BMW already has big plans for it. Before the end of the new year, BMW plans to present a refreshed hybrid powertrain and more technology features for its 7-Series sedan.
The hybrid powertrain will produce 380 horsepower (about 70 more than what it produces today) thanks to a powerful new motor. A new battery pack with a higher energy density will also contribute to the electricity, allowing the 745 to accelerate faster and keep the turbo engine turned off longer. The range is currently at 14 miles.
One of the coolest upgrades it will receive is the wireless charger (currently found in the 530e). In addition, the entire lineup, regardless of drivetrain, will come with the digital Live Cockpit.
New claims are also suggesting that BMW will be bringing the short-wheelbase back to the United States. The current generation model has been long-wheelbase only since it made its debut in 2015.
We are excited for the updated 7-Series to make its public debut at once of 2018’s major auto shows and hit showrooms in time for the 2019 model year! As always, we will keep you updated on news coming straight from BMW, just follow along!
