Certified CenterBMW is proving that it’s yet again ahead of the curve. Earlier this month they announced their plans to offer a new iOS configurator through Apple’s Augmented Reality app using ARKit with iOS 11.

So what does this mean, exactly? Customers in specific markets can use their iPads and iPhones to view 3D renderings of BMW i cars like the i3 and i8 in their actual size. The app is currently available in 17 countries and has support for over 21 languages.
The BMW i Visualizer App gives millions of consumers an interactive, 3D experience. It is the first automotive brand in the world to offer an augmented reality product and is setting the pace as one of the first car companies to utilize Apple’s ARKit. The app can be downloaded onto any iPhone 6s or newer and also works on Apple’s iPad pro or the latest iPad.
“Our products are highly emotional vehicles which customers need to experience,” said Andra Castronovo, BMW Group Vice President, Customer Centric Sales Strategy, MPM and Process Management. “With this app, we’re able to bring the next best thing to an actual product into people’s pockets -- they can just take out their iPhone and see what their dream car would look like on the driveway or how it would fit into their garage,” he continued.
Having this app gives customers access to a life-size visualization of their own personal BMW i3, i3s or i8 with which they can customize to their liking and envision for themselves before ever entering a showroom. “This is the next logical step, rather than just reading about the product, they can go some way to experiencing it,” said Stefan Biermann, Head of Sales Innovations.
