BMW of San Antonio wants to update you on the electric vehicle that won two categories at the 2016 Green Car Awards.

On April 25, 2016 the AAA (American Automobile Association) 2016 Green Car Awards were held in Los Angeles, California. At the event, there were three price categories and six size categories represented. The new BMW i3 was entered in the Best Green Car category $30,00- $50,000, as well as the Best Green Car in the subcompact category. The 2016 BMW i3 won in both the size and price category.

Meet the 2016 BMW i3.

This electric vehicle does not compromise luxury or economy for anyone. Top of the line materials are still included, just with a sustainable twist. The interior is comprised of nearly 25% of renewable raw and recycled materials. A sustainable open-pore eucalyptus wood dashboard option is available, as well as olive leaf tanned leather. The way that the olive leafs are used also protects the leather from fading and wear.

Drivers of the 2016 BMW i3 can also expect the sporty performance that comes with owning a BMW performance vehicle. In fact this little eco car is actually one of the fastest cars on the line. The vehicle is extremely lightweight due to the use of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic, which just adds to the efficiency. Two options are available in the BMW i3 as well as two additional packages.

Efficiency is clearly your thing. You’ll be pleased to hear about the technology innovations available. One of BMW of San Antonio’s favorite function is that you can use the integrated BMW i Remote app to sync your BMW i3 to your smartphone, Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Gear Watch and other mobile devices. By connecting your smart devices you can be up to date on your battery's state of charge. You can also configure automatic charging times. Like to have the control? Simply set a comfortable cabin temperature and set your destination. You can do this all in fact before even getting behind the wheel.
