Summer is finally here. With all of the things that you are doing to be ready for the summer weather, make sure that you don’t forget about your vehicle!

Summer is here and there are just a few things that you want to be ready for as the weather starts to heat up. Because as you know, Texas gets hot! Don’t worry, BMW of San Antonio is here for you. Below we have provided just a few tips for you vehicle that you should keep in mind as we head into the warmest months of the year.

Tires

The sun is out and so are you! Check your tire pressure. Tire pressure changes with temperature changes. A over inflated or under inflated tire can become very dangerous in the summer. If you have any questions about your tires, bring it to us!  

Fluids

Make sure your vehicle has had all of its fluids checked. You want to especially make sure your coolant levels are fine, and that your overall cooling system is good to go. Nothing is worse than overheating in the middle of the road somewhere during a hot summer day.

Clean

The undercarriage of your vehicle. You would be impressed with how much salt and de-icer can get caked onto the bottom of your vehicle. If you took any road trips up north this may be something to consider. If it is not cleaned off, over time it will eat away at the metal. The residue can also act as an insulator and make your engine hotter!

You also really want to check your battery. Warmer weather speeds up chemical reactions, and can overcharge your battery. Overcharging a car battery can result in a shorter lifespan or a corroded battery.

Change Out  

• Wiper Blades: Winter can be extremely harsh on your windshield wipers and summer can bring some pretty heavy showers. It is important to make sure you can see during any summer storms! Check out any specials we may have on parts.

• Oil: It fuels your engine! Besides fuel itself, it is extremely important to change your oil as often as your manufacturer recommends.
