Take a look at this waterfall. Judging by the flow of the water, it looks like it might be terrifying, and most likely not safe to travel down.
That's actually not the case at all. It's perfectly safe, legal, and really darn fun.
You're looking at the Rio Vista Falls Dam, a small section of the San Marcos River, and it has three waterfalls that serve as slides. It's a ton of fun for all ages, so this is definitely a place to bring your kids.
If you do let your children down the waterfalls, make sure they have life jackets. At the bottom of the slides where the water churns, it can be quite dangerous if they aren't properly secured. If they are though, they'll be perfectly fine.
The Rio Vista Falls Dam is located in San Marcos, which is just about an hour away from San Antonio. Summer is coming to a close, so we highly encourage you to check this place out before it starts getting cooler. You don't know what you're missing!
