BMW has just announced its changes to the new 2016 BMW 3 Series, a sedan that accounts for nearly 25 percent of BMW's vehicles sales, making it the most successful model for BMW.


BMW of San Antonio has a complete lineup of more than 200 new BMW 3 series available, making it the largest selection in San Antonio.


Along with new changes to the 3 Series, the introduction of the BMW 340i is also marks the debut of a 6-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 320 horsepower.


3 Series Key Changes


  • Improved transmissions: The new 3 Series will come with options of an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 6-speed manual transmission. The 6-speed transmission on 340i models will be "equipped with a dual-mass flywheel with centrifugal pendulum absorbers," allowing the driver to shift through gears smoothly.


The 8-speed transmission features improved efficiency through a "wider gear ratio spread and reduced torque converter," when shifting, creating smoothness as drivers go through each gear.


  • Improved efficiency through ECO PRO mode to deliver performance while getting exceptional gas mileage


  • Newly designed full LED rear lights.


  • Newly designed Halogen Headlights with LED daytime running lights have been further spread apart to widen visibility on the road.


  • New Track Handling Package available for driving enthusiasts.


  • Added features to BMW ConnectedDrive like mobility services and driver assistance systems


  • BMW Assist eCall that will automatically alert the best possible emergency response team with the vehicle location and severity of the situation or accident


  • Parking Assistant for perpendicular parking
