Since launching BMW ConnectedDrive, BMW has allowed drivers the ability to be better connected and better immersed in their Ultimate Driving Machine than ever before.

ConnectedDrive offers a wealth of services, but we at BMW of San Antonio have a few other driving apps that we've found helpful recently. Apps can make your time behind the wheel a little easier and lot more efficient.

From your team at BMW of San Antonio, here's our favorite driving apps to help unlock a wealth of navigation, entertainment and efficiency while driving:

  1. GasBuddy (FREE)  - Wondering where the cheapest gas near you can be found? This app brings you information about local gas prices divided by grades to save drivers money, time and effort spent trying to find the best deal. Users can report gas prices to earn points and awards.

  1. Waze (FREE) - Community driven, this app is more than just navigation. Users share real-time traffic information about accidents, police traps and other hazards. The app will automatically reroute as conditions change while driving. If you're connected with friends on the app, it will show their ETA when heading to the same destination.

  1. BMW Genius (FREE) - The app is made specifically for the Ultimate Driving Machine. Search for your model and access a digital library of BMW knowledge including key features, tips and how-to videos.

  1. Repair Pal (FREE) - Offering help with auto repairs and service, this app tells you how much you should be paying for your service and locates different mechanics near you. Choose your car and the type of repair you need. Be confident that you'll know the fair price before taking your car for service.

  1. INRIX (FREE) - One of the most accurate traffic, routing and road alert apps, INRIX helps you make smarter driving decisions. Data is crowd sourced from trucks, cameras, road sensors and in-car navigation systems.

  1. BMW Driver's Guide (FREE) - The driver's guide gives you on-the-go access to your driver's manual. Enter your VIN and the appropriate owner's manual is downloaded. Knowing and understanding your BMW's features further enhances the driving experience. After the initial download, the manual is available without internet access.

  1. Car Camera DVR ($3.99) - This app acts as a dash cam using your smartphone camera and can embed data about your speed, location and time. An easy way to protect yourself with evidence in case of a ticket or accident, the camera is also great for capturing beautiful scenery.

  1. Honk ($0.99) - Parking horrors no more. Honk's primary feature gives drivers the ability to track how much time you have left on your parking meter and alerting when you need to start heading back. Also, you can leave a GPS pin where you parked and Honk will guide you safely back to your car.

  1. BMW M Power Meter (FREE) - One of the most enjoyable apps to use on this list, the Power Meter records the performance data of your driving. It brings you information about your acceleration (G-force), speed and lateral acceleration. Compare with friends and their vehicles to show how ultimate your BMW is.

  1. AccuFuel ($0.99)

For those of us who are always tracking our expenses, this app keeps track of how much you spend on gas and gives you feedback on your fuel while driving. The app even allows you to track multiple cars' gas expenses. It's built with an odometer that can be reset if you wanted to measure the amount of gas consumed on a particular trip.

We hope these apps may be as helpful to you as we found them to be. If you ever have any questions about your BMW, please don't hesitate to contact us or come by the dealership.
