Have you seen one of the new BNW i3 or BMW i8 models out on the road yet? There are definitely a few of them rolling around the streets of San Antonio but definitely not as many as we would like to see. Of course that could soon change as company officials recently announced plans to ship a larger percentage of the vehicles produced in Germany to the U.S. for distribution.

You may remember that BMW planned to keep initial imports of the i3 and i8 models relatively low and then would increase the number when demand began to grow. Well ever since Americans have started seeing these unbelievable hybrid and EVs vehicles they have been scooping them up left and right.

Both the i3 and i8 are produced in Germany and so far 10,000 i3s have been sold around the world with 280 i8s also finding buyers. Many drivers have been holding out for the arrival of the special i3 with the built-in gas-powered range extender. The waiting list for that particular variant is now six months long in some places.
