When it comes to developing new models, many auto brands are content to get a sense of the tide, and simply follow the leader. BMW is a little different. Though the 2014 X5 might appear to be an SUV, on the contrary, it is an SAV. While all too often design and function go hand-in-hand, this vehicle has been crafted for activity; not utility.

Of course, like every new BMW, it's a very capable model. However, the crossover isn't intended to simply, get the job done, it's designed to give you the utmost in luxury whether you're on your way to work, driving into San Antonio, TX for a night out, or breaking new ground.

The performance that you'd expect is certainly there in full-force. The X5 models' 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-six engine will get you 300 hp and can hit 60 miles per hour in just a shade over 6 seconds. If you're after more power, then you might consider the V8 X5 xDrive 50i. The model's 4.4-liter, 400 hp, TwinPower Turbo powertrain should give you that extra kick you're looking for.

In terms of changes to series, the X5 will see its first rear-wheel drive option in the X5 sDrive35i so you can get even more responsiveness out of your SAV. Of course, more subtle adjustments have been made across the board.

These new models will arrive at BMW of San Antonio in the early fall. In the meantime, feel free to stop into our showroom to get a feel for the luxury and performance of the 2013 X5 model. Or our sales team can fill you in on more of the 2014 updates.
