The EPA estimates 18 city/24 highway miles per gallon. The X1's sharp steering and tight-turning radius makes for a highly maneuverable vehicle, handling winding roads with ease.

The X5 has proficient safety ratings from numerous safety agencies, such as the feds and the IIHS. The BMW Assist emergency communications software provides on-demand roadside assistance, automatic crash notifications, and stolen-vehicle recovery assistance. The optional Driver Assistance package will include a rearview camera and head-up display, lane departure warning, speed limit information, and a forward collision warning.
