How Often Should You Rotate Tires

We can’t expect our vehicles to take good care of us if we don’t take care of them. That’s why it’s important to follow critical inspections and maintenance procedures to keep everything running smoothly. Keep reading to learn why it’s necessary to rotate your tires and how often you should do so!

Tire rotation involves moving tires from one position on a vehicle to another. For instance, moving your rear tires to the front, or the left tires to the right. There are numerous rotation patterns and you should follow the pattern demonstrated in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.

Your owner’s manual will indicate how often this should take place, but generally a rotation should be planned every 5,000 to 7,000 miles.

Tire rotation is important because it ensures that the tires wear evenly which will extend their life and save you money. Even tire wear also influences how balanced the tire’s handling is. For example, failure to rotate tires on a front-wheel drive vehicle will eventually result in those tires having much less tread than the rear tires. Another pertinent reason for rotating your tires is that the tire maker may require it to keep its warranty in force.
